In Memoriam

Jan Mabley (Myren) past member (1964-67) and Rover officer, married to Ty Mabley past member (1964-67) and officer, died 6/25/2010. Ty met Jan on his first Rovers trip — a caving trip she coordinated. On his first climbing trip, she was the one who showed him how to tie in.

As a Rover, Jan was active in white-water canoeing, hiking, backpacking, spelunking, sewer tours, a Mexico trip, but most of all canoeing in the BWCA. That is what she did for her honeymoon and where she took both of her daughters before they were 13 months old and each year of their lives thereafter until they went on their first trip to Europe without parents. Jan had four foreign exchange students representing Norway, Switzerland, Uzbekistan, and Thailand for a year each. They all spent a week in the BWCA with Jan early in their stay with her.   

For those who don't know her, let it be known that Rover marriages are strong bonds. We had 42 years. I was hoping for more.
