    An evening birding hike at Bass Ponds which is just SE of the Mall of America. At the light on 24th Avenue (extension of Old Shakopee Rd) and 86th Street, turn east one block to a one lane gravel road (that means go straight) for about 70 yards to the parking area. No experience is required, but experienced birders are welcome and encouraged to come and help

    Border Route Trail Clearing — Topper Lake, MN

    Summer Trips Camping Hiking Trail Maintenance

    Early Friday, April 28th, the morning the crew will drive up to the access trail head, hike into the Topper Lake camp, setup a base camp, and spend the rest of the day trail clearing on the BRT. to the west of the camp. Saturday and Sunday trail clearing will continue on the BRT. The crew will hike out on Monday and return home.

    A Birding Walk at Snail Lake Regional Park which is located in Shoreview (55126) at 4191 Snail Lake Blvd. Take 694 to Victoria exit (exit 43B). North on Victoria 0.5 mile, past Gramsie Rd to Snail Lake Blvd. Right on Snail Lake Blvd. Continue on Snail Lake Blvd. past large parking lot on left. After road curves, take a left into the second parking lot by the lake. No experience is required, but experienced birders are welcome and encouraged to come and help.Meet at 6 P,M.

    2017 Rovers Astronomy Weekend — Wildcat Mountain State Park, Wisconsin

    SAVE THE DATE!!

    Join us for the third annual Rovers Astronomy Weekend at beautiful Wildcat Mountain state park near Ontario, WI.

    During the day, we will hike around the park, bird watch from the viewpoints, bike along the nearby Sparta Elroy trail and do another group paddle down the Kickapoo river.

    At night, our friends from the Minnesota Astronomical Society and the Northwest Suburban Astronomers from Chicago will show us the night sky through large telescopes… so Save The Date!!

    Registration starts Feb. 19.

    Hiking, Bison Watching, Rock Climbing, Bicycling and Paddling in SW MN & SE South Dakota — Palisades State Park, South Dakota

    A trifecta of state park fun! Palisades SP (SD) has pink quartzite bluffs overlooking the rushing water of Split Rock Creek. Less than 25 minutes away are Blue Mounds SP, the city of Luverne (home of Bradenburg Gallery and Take 16 Brewing), Split Rock Creek SP, and the Sioux Falls Bike Trail. Palisades SP offers beautiful views, bluffs for rock climbing, and Split Rock Creek for whitewater paddling. Blue Mounds SP offers bison watching and 13 miles of hiking trails past quartzite cliffs, tallgrass prairie, and prickly pear cacti. Split Rock Creek SP offers paddling on Split Rock Lake (Boats available for rent) and another 4.5 miles of hiking. For bikers, Sioux Falls has a 26 mile paved trail around the city outskirts.

    Stubborn Mule Adventure Race. Representing Team Rovers for the third year in a row, it’s a blast, so we’re doing it again! Three Rovers will be doing the 12-hour race. There is also a 5-hour race and a 30-hour race. Come cheer us on, create your own team, go solo, or just come up and bike or hike on your own on some of the best trails in the Midwest!

    Mountain Biking and Hiking — Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan

    Join us on a long holiday weekend to explore the Keweenaw Peninsula. There are tons of mountain biking trails as well as hiking, sightseeing, beaches, lighthouses, etc. We’ll head up Friday after work, stay at a motel along the way then head to Copper Harbor where we’ll check out the trails and camp at Lake Fanny Hooe two nights, then move on to the Houghton area for two more days of riding, camping, and exploring.

    There is a NEW Camp at CALVIN COOLIDGE GROUP AREA. Pay only for nights you stay there. Climbers must have a predetermined climbing partner to climb with. Area offers trad & sport climbing at all levels of ability. Devils Tower is 2 hours away for those who want to ‘side-trip’ to climb there.

    NON-CLIMBERS WELCOME as there are many hiking trails in the area and Wind Cave and Badlands National Parks and Jewel Cave National Monument.

    Boats, Bikes, Boots, and Beer: Canal Boating in England — Cheshire, England

    Summer Trips Bicycling Hiking Other Summer Activities

    This is a two-week canal boat trip in the county of Cheshire, in west central England, near the Welsh border. The canal boat will be our moving base of operations, a sort of floating RV with a kitchen, bathrooms, showers and bedrooms. Each day we will cruise down the canal, through the lovely English countryside, for about 4-5 hours, leaving us six to eight hours each day to explore scenic villages, ancient castles and churches, and dramatic overlooks.
