Trip Description

Join us for camping, hiking, biking & star gazing at Theodore Roosevelt NP!

We’ll spend the first few nights in the South Unit, near Medora, hiking & biking during the day, and attending the Dakota Nights Star Party during the evening.

Members of the Minnesota Astronomical Society (MAS) will be partnering with park staff to give night-time showings of stars, planets and deep sky objects through large telescopes. To show their appreciation, the park is waving entrance and group camp fees in the south unit for MAS and Rovers!!

On Sept. 18th we will head to the North Unit to do some back country hiking, mountain/road biking, and more star gazing in some of the most scenic sections of the North Dakota Badlands. See the bison herds, prairie dog towns and other wildlife in their natural state!

The Maah-Daah-Hey mountain biking trail runs through the park and extends 96 miles.

Trip cost estimate includes gas, camping fees, food and showers. Members will be responsible for their own food during this trip.
