This is a 5 day trip, 2 days traveling and 3 days on trail, to Kenai, Ak. Shuttle from Kenai to the trailhead at Cooper Landing. We will backpack the Resurrection Pass Trail to Resurrection Pass, then gain elevation as we connect with the Summit Creek trail, finally descending to Summit lake located on the Seward highway. Shuttle back to Kenai from Summit Lake.
This is bear habitat, but there are bear lockers at the two campsites we will be camping at on the trail. No bear cans needed, yay! I will be carrying bear spray. Experience long summer days, mountain valleys and tundra as we hike this historic trail. Mileage point to point is 30, but anticipate exploring as time allows and additional mileage totaling 35+ miles for this trip. Cost estimate includes flights, hotels for two nights, and shuttles from Kenai to the trail. Food is extra.
This trip is for experienced backpackers. I’ve been on the Resurrection Pass trail four times, and have always wanted to take the lesser traveled Summit Creek Trail to access more tundra and elevation above tree line. Weather could range between sunny skies in the 70’s to drizzle and rain in the 50’s. Due to limited size of the shuttle, trip size is limited to 4 total (including myself). if you are interested, call, email, or text me before Feb 15. I plan on booking my flights in March. I fly direct from Minneapolis to Anchorage, then a commuter flight from Anchorage to Kenai.
