Hike the Long Meadow Lake Trail from the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge to the old Cedar Avenue Bridge and back. The 7.3 mile hike is largely flat along the bottoms of the Minnesota River. We will meet in the parking lot at the Wildlife Refuge at 3815 American Blvd E, Bloomington, MN 55425. (Google Maps) The refuge should be open for restrooms at the start and finish, but that is not assured. The hike is between the reed ponds and among the huge basswood trees, an area often frequented by eagles this time of year.
The pace will be moderate, so with breaks we should be back in around 2.5-3 hours. But since it is an out and back hike, people can go as far as they want. Bring water. Weather is predicted to be mid-40’s and sunny.
