Join us on accomplishing our 2015 goal of getting the Pigeon River Segment of the BRT whipped back into decent hiking condition.

On Friday morning we’ll be meeting Chel Anderson, Mn DNR Botanist, who will help with the final layout and clearing of a new re-route around the South Fowl Bluff rare plants. We’ll then continue eastward along the bluff and down off the ridge towards the banks of the Pigeon River and stash the gear at the end of the day. On Saturday we’ll continue along the Pigeon and hike back to our vehicles via the logging road. On Sunday we’ll clear from where we started on Friday westward towards the McFarland Lake Trailhead. On Monday some can do a 5.3 mi. day hike to take in the 270 degree overlook plus the other six overlooks between the Swamp River trailhead and our campsite while two of us will do scouting and layout for a re-route that would eliminate the wet areas at the beginning of the Otter Lake Cutoff Trail.

We’ll be car-camping at the Otter Lake campsite with it’s exclusive executive beach for cooling off with a nice swim before dinner. Other swimming options include Portage Brook Falls.

Trip participants need to be in decent physical condition.

The trip fee / deposit of $45.00 includes food from Friday breakfast through Monday lunch. Gas costs will be in addition with the riders contributing their fair share to the driver.
