Let’s take advantage again of the back to below freezing ice hiking conditions on much of the Voyageur Trek Trail at Lebanon Hills Wednesday starting at Noon Sharp. We’ll leave from the Holland Lake trail head parking lot and head out to the northern segment, then circle around while passing O’Brian Lake, Cattail Pond, Lily Pond, Bridge Pond, Beaver Pond, the east end of Jensen Lake, and part of Dakota Lake. This hike should be around 4.5 miles. Bathrooms are available where you park.
Shoe grippers or such on your hiking shoes are mandatory. (Don’t even think of using snowshoes on the trails.) Expect a lot of lumpy ice and hard-packed lumpy snow unfazed by the two warm days before this hike. We’ll plan on a 2.5 – 3 mph pace, stopping now and then to enjoy the quiet of the woods of our “Wilderness in the City”, perhaps too to look and listen for birds.
Dress warm—the temperature is predicted to be sunny and about 18 degrees at the start. Consider bringing water. Please do get there on time. Bathrooms are available at the trailhead.
All dogs on leashes are welcome. Please text or email me if you’re planning to come, whether you’re a member or not. IN ADDITION, if you’re not a Rover, please sign the release below.
