It’s time to clear the spider webs off your paddling gear! Let’s paddle the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes on Saturday, May 2. Meet at 10 a.m. at Thomas Beach on the south shore of Lake Calhoun. The beach has a pay lot (75 cents/hour I believe) but you can also park on a side street for free and schlep your boat to the beach if you like.
If you need a boat, you can rent a kayak or canoe by the hour from Wheel Fun Rentals (http://wheelfunrentals.com/Locations/Minneapolis) on the northeast shore of Calhoun – those of us paddling from Thomas Beach can meet you there. The club also has a few kayaks for free member use – see the website for details.
We’ll paddle to Brownie Lake and beach our boats at the Tin Fish (yummy fish tacos!) restaurant for lunch on the way back. (Note the food line can be up to 1 hour so bear that in mind.) Total paddling distance is 6 miles. This is a day trip so non-members are welcome.
