Description:

This will be our fifth outing to Birch Lake State Forest and cycling on the Lake Wobegon Trail, with the infamous “flat hills.” We have the entire private group camp area reserved (six sites tucked into a heavily wooded area). Big Birch Lake is walking distance away, has 12 miles of shoreline and is well known for fishing and crystal clear water for paddling.  There will be cycling outings on Friday and Saturday with lunch stops (and pie!) in small town cafes. We can break into smaller groups for short/long rides at faster/slower paces.

This is also the weekend of Spunktacular Days in Avon with live music on Friday and Saturday nights, parade, fireworks, and a leisurely lady slipper bike ride.  And the El Rancho Manana riding stable is a short drive away in Richmond.

Bring your own food, snacks, beverages, plates/utensils, lawn chair and camping gear. You can borrow tents and sleeping bags from the gear locker, but you need to make advance arrangements with a gear coordinator to reserve, pick-up and return items (contact [email protected]). Meals will be on your own with a pot-luck dinner on Saturday. Carpooling is encouraged. No vehicle entry fee for state forests.

Coordinator(s):
