Forests provide food and habitat for wildlife, and improve air and water quality. (They’re also really awesome places to hike and bike!) However, these important areas are being compromised by invasive species, such as buckthorn. Help us to protect our forests for the future by joining us to remove buckthorn at our club’s Adopted Woodlot at Elm Creek Park Reserve.
The woodlot we’ll be working in has been identified as a high-quality forest, and we are working to retain the forest’s high quality by removing invasives, such as buckthorn. We have accomplished a lot, but there is always more work to do (sigh).
Meet at 10200 Goose Lake Parkway, Champlin, MN a little before 9:30. This is Highpoint Park. We will lead people into the woodlot at 9:30 am and be finished at 12:30.
Bring a water bottle, work gloves, a snack, lunch, mosquito repellent/sunscreen, and loppers/pruners if you have them. We’ll have some gloves on hand for those who forget. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or torn. Come see the progress we’ve made so far and make a difference for our little corner of the world!
