- Max Trip Size: 25 people
Hey Rovers! Let’s get out and enjoy the snow at Wild River State Park on Sunday, February 17!
https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/snow_depth/trails.html?facility_id=4203
The park features 19 miles of ski trails and 10 miles of snowshoe trails. Of course half the fun of snowshoeing is heading off trail. Come on out if you want to ski or snowshoe. I will be on snowshoes, and my hope is that some skiers decide to join us too. First time snowshoers welcome!
This is family friendly event, so bring along your kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews! Since this is a day trip, you don’t need to be a Rover member to attend, so bring a friend or 3!
We will meet up in the Trail Center at 10:45, snowshoe and ski for a while, then meet back at the trail center for lunch. Bring your own lunch. After lunch, we will head back out for more fun in the snow.
Note that the Trail Center is different than the Park Office or Visitor Center. Ask at the park office if you need directions.
I encourage carpooling from the Twin Cities. We will meet at my house in New Brighton at 9:30. The park is about an hour away. Send me an email and I will reply with my address. If you want to arrange your own carpool and meet us there, we’ll see you at 10:45 at the Trail Center.
If you need snowshoes, members can try the gear locker, but it may be too late given the short notice of this trip. Snowshoes and skis are available for rental at the Trail Center in the park from 11-5 on Sunday. Reservations recommended. http://www.wildriverskirental.com/index.html
A state park pass is required for all vehicles. A Great Minnesota Ski Pass is required for skiers and is available at the Trail Center.
