Join your Rover friends for snowshoeing in the Mississippi River Gorge in Minneapolis! We’ll explore the ridgeline trail and drop down to the river level. Hiking poles recommended.
This is a family friendly trip and we’ll adjust based on who shows up.
This is a day trip, so you don’t need to be a MN Rovers member. Just scroll down and fill out a waiver form if you’re not a member.
Meet at E. 26th St and Mississippi River Blvd at 1:00. This is just north of the train bridge across the river. Plenty of street parking should be available on E. 26th St. and Seabury Ave. Please be prompt. It will be cold, so we’ll need to get moving right away.
After about 60-90 minutes out, we’ll warm up at a nearby cafe (Birchwood or Dunn Bros. depending on group preference), so bring money for treats if you want. This is optional, of course, but why would would you want to miss out on seeing what your new hiking friends actually look like when they take off all those layers?
I expect this to be a snowshoeing trip, but that will depend on the amount of snow in the next 36 hours. Also, because this is the city, trails may already be packed by the time we get there. In that case, hiking without snowshoeing may be easier. We’ll figure it out as we go and have a great time outside!
Current forecast is for a sunny high from 5 to 10 degrees with wind chills from -5 and -10, so dress appropriately.
