If you’d like to learn the basics of camping without actually having to commit to going camping, then this may be the event for you.
We especially want to invite members of BIPOC communities to join us for this event.
Together we will use camp stoves to cook up a typical camp meal, eat it and clean it up. The intended meal (which will be free to you) will be ‘tacos in a bowl’ (taco meat, chips, and toppings). Water and Lemonade will be served. We will NOT be using ‘disposable’ plates or utensils.
We will also have ‘hands-on’ lessons in setting up a tent and outfitting it with sleeping needs. We may also take time to set up a tarp and if it is raining, we may even do this before the cooking begins.
All participants will be encouraged to help in any or all phases of the event from cooking, clean-up, tarp and tent set-up and tear down.
If we get through all that and we have time and desire, we can build a fire and toast up s’mores.
We recognize that despite yearning to spend more time out in the glory that nature in Minnesota offers, it can be difficult to know where & how to start. We offer more than verbal explanation or a set of pictures of what camping would be like but, rather an opportunity to experience the main parts of almost any camping trip – eating and setting up camp.
As outdoor enthusiasts, we rarely let rain stop us from playing outside so this event will take place ‘RAIN OR SHINE’ and unless there is severe weather or a tornado – we will be there. If you want to make sure we are there or have trouble finding us, you can call or text Rob at 651-230-2277
