- Max Trip Size: 20 people
Take a midweek break and join us for an urban hike around Lake Harriet (2.75 miles)! We’ll chat, look for wildlife, and see if we can spot the Lake Harriet Elf’s house!
We’ll meet at the intersection of Roseway Road and Lake Harriet Parkway at 6:30 p.m. (4124 Roseway Road, Minneapolis, MN 55409, across Lake Harriet Parkway from the Lyndale Park Rose Garden). There is free parking along Lake Harriet Parkway and in the neighborhood on 42nd Street and 43rd Street. (This area is also accessible from the 4 and 6 Metro Transit bus routes.) We’ll plan to hike for about an hour at a moderate pace (3 mph?). Bring water, a snack, and bug spray. Dress for the weather. Bring money if you want to get something at the Bandshell’s Refectory.
We will hike clockwise and end up at the Lake Harriet Bandshell around 7:15/7:30. If the line’s not too long, ice cream at the Refectory is a possibility. For those people who are interested, Liam Gerard will be performing there from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. as part of the Minneapolis Park’s Music and Movies in the Parks. He is described as “melodic and lyrically driven alternative.” You are welcome to stay for the music or continue on with us to complete the hike. Whether you stay for the music or not, your car is about 0.5 miles or a 10-minute walk away from the Bandshell. Depending on time and interest, you may also want to walk around the Lyndale Park Rose Garden/Perennial Garden, the Peace (Rock) Garden, or the Roberts Bird Sanctuary afterwards. Or make a note to come back another time!
