- Max Trip Size: 15 people
This is the first in a series of long(er) distance walks. Walks will be posted weekly, with a goal of preparing for future long distance end-to-end or through hikes. Please join us if you are interested in training for long-distance hikes, or if you just want to enjoy some longer local walks. Come as often, or as rarely, as you like. Be forewarned: the coordinator is a bit of an introvert, so I can’t promise a constant stream of scintillating conversation. I’m also bad at navigation.
On Saturday January 21, meet at 9:30 am inside the Oswald Visitor Center. If the snowshoe trails are well packed, we can hike on them (or bring or rent snowshoes if you like); if the paved walking trails are open, we can walk on those; or we can do a combination of both paved and unpaved trails. We’ll plan for a total distance of about 8 miles.

The Arboretum does require reservations. I work at the Arboretum, so I can bring in up to 7 people at no charge. Please contact me directly to claim one of those spots. If you have your own membership, or we have more than 7 people interested and you want to purchase tickets, here is the link to the ticketing page: https://arb.umn.edu/Tickets or call 612-301-6775 to make reservations. Limit of 15 people for the group.

If you would like to join me, please email at [email protected] so I can keep you updated in case of weather cancellation.
Dress in layers, wear shoes with good tread or Yaktrax, and bring some water. The paved trails are an easy walk, the unpaved trails are easy to intermediate. Some trails do gain some elevation. There’s no cost to the first 7 people to contact me; any additional people will need to make reservations, which are free for members, $15.00 per person for non-members.
