- Max Trip Size: 30 people
Bring a child you want to introduce to the outdoors! Parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/mentors are all welcome.
Children’s book author Melany Kahn has graciously offered to lead a group of children and adults into the woods for a mushroom foray and general woodland adventure. The pace of this hike will be meandering and chaotic. Satisfying the kids’ curiousity will be the primary goal.
Plan to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. You should not plan on having access to bathrooms during this trip. There is sometimes a porta potty near the concrete reservoir, otherwise the park has no facilities on the western side.
We will meet at Reservoir Woods Park at the trail entrance on Victoria Street. Street parking is available on Victoria, and there is also a small parking area off of Victoria Street. Please note this trail entrance. We are meeting at the trail entrance on Victoria Street. There are multiple entrances to Reservoir Woods.
Melany Kahn is the author of ‘Mason Goes Mushrooming.’ If you purchase a copy of her book in advance, I’m sure she’d be happy to sign it for you. You can find the book here: https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781950584888
If you attend you are expected to stay and participate in the activity with the child you bring. 🙂 The trip size of 30 counts includes both children and adults. When you RSVP, please let me know how many of each are attending. To keep the trip kid focused, I will reserve 25 of the 30 spots for families.
