- Max Trip Size: 12 people
This is a loop hike on both sides of the Mississippi River. We start at the Fort Snelling visitor center parking lot, 200 Tower Avenue St. Paul, Minneapolis, MN 55417. This is NOT the state park. You do not need a state park pass. We will hike across the Hwy 5 bridge, go north along the East River Road, then cross back to the west side of the river at the Ford Parkway bridge, stop by Minnehaha Falls, and return for a 6-7 mile loop. Much of the trail will be paved but there may be some muddy or icy sections this time of year. Depending upon the conditions, there may be some icy stairs to climb. Bring along shoe grippers in case we need them, but you don’t need to start out with them. Most of the hike will be paved. Bring water and hi-energy snacks (optional) and dress according to the weather. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
I will be coordinating this and other hikes that are at a medium-fast-paced speed. Please join us if you are interested in a medium-fast-paced hike. If you find you aren’t keeping up with the group, please be willing to notify me and turn back or continue the hike on your own so that the group can hike at this pace.
Please arrive a few minutes early so we can leave on time.
Non-Rover members should submit the online liability waiver below.
Send me an email or text if you are planning to come so put you on the list and look out for you.
