Rovers volunteers help haul boats for the annual Boat Auction in exchange for reduced pricing for our booth. The event happens “rain or shine” and if rain anticipated we’ll have a small shelter to be under but bring appropriate rain gear (which can be left in your vehicle as most parking is within a block or two).
We need AT LEAST 10 VOLUNTEERS PER SHIFT.
Shift 1) 7am – 10am. Volunteers assist sellers in removing boats from their vehicles ONLY IF GIVEN OWNERS’ PERMISSION then lug the boats into position in preparation to be auctioned. At least one volunteer will situate near the driveway entrance to direct sellers where to park and doesn’t need to lift any boats.
10-11am potential Buyers are allowed to inspect boats, 11:00 the auction starts
Shift 2) 10am – 1 or 2pm Volunteers in teams of 2 haul boats to the auction block, wait while that boat either sells or not then hauls the boat back to it’s original spot. The auction should conclude by 1pm but has run longer sometimes and there’s a good chance this year will run long. We are NOT responsible for helping buyers load their new boats but we often do because, well, we’re Rovers! They have until 2:30 to load their boats & go.
Rovers provides coffee, donuts, bagels & cream cheese but it’s BRING YOUR OWN COFFEE MUG.
TO SIGN UP – send an email to Rob and INCLUDE WHICH SHIFT(S) you’re willing to work.
