Trip Full Wait List OpenCategory: Hiking, Camping, Paddling

Wed - SunAug 2 - Aug 62023
  • Estimated Cost: $29
  • Max Trip Size: 16 people
Description:

Let’s camp at Bear Head Lake State Park’s group site for four nights from Wednesday to Sunday, Aug. 2-6. This is a chance to visit a park that’s been rated the best state park in Minnesota.

The secluded group camp is on the east shore of Bear Head Lake. We can paddle and swim right from the campsite. Canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards should be available for rent from the park office. The park has 14 miles of hiking trails. Mountain biking may be an option in the area.

Also nearby are the International Wolf Center and Vermilion-Soudan State Park, which has more hiking and mine tours.

We’ll also likely end up in Ely, MN for food, drink, shopping or other activities (https://www.ely.org/things-to-do/outdoors/).

We can plan to have a potluck one night at the Trail Center, which has sinks and countertops.

No dogs on this trip.
