Join me for a moderately paced 9 mile hike on the St. Croix Segment of the Ice Age Trail. This will be my first time on this trail. The trail chapter coordinator informed me the trail is in good condition and where to stage cars for the shuttle. This 9 mile section is described as varying terrain including a small section of walking on the road and shared bike trail, there may also be a very small section of shallow water to cross at the end (but she said the run off from the river is down considerably so this may not be an issue). I’d like to station a car(s) at the end of the trail to shuttle us back to the beginning. Let me know if you will volunteer your vehicle as a shuttle at the end and I’ll meet with you earlier to accomplish this.
There are no water stops along the way, please come prepared with enough water and a snack/lunch for yourself. Be prepared for possible mud, bugs, and ticks. I’m anticipating about 4 hours to complete this hike give or take. There is little to no cell reception along the trail. I will have a satellite radio in case of emergencies.
Meet at Wisconsin Interstate State Park, park near the Pothole Trail. You will need a WI state park sticker or day pass ($11 for non-WI residents). Address: 1275 State Hwy 35 St. Croix Falls, WI 54024
Let’s plan to meet up at 10am, we can stop along the way to enjoy our snacks/lunch. And then possibly enjoy some local ice cream at the end on the way home!
Well behaved dogs are allowed, they must be leashed (8 feet or less) at all times and owner must pick up after them immediately. We will honor leave no trace principles.
