- Max Trip Size: 9 people
This trip is designed for folks who have never climbed before or maybe haven’t for some time.
It is a day trip as we return from Extravaganza so those attending Extravaganza will be given priority but folks may just come for the day even if they didn’t attend EXT. If you only intend to climb and aren’t part of EXT – YOU MUST SIGN UP BY EMAILING ME YOUR INTENT TO COME NO LATER THAN THURSDAY 4PM AND INCLUDE YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER!
All climbing safety gear will be provided by Rovers including helmets which are required for anyone who is climbing or belaying a climber.
We will eat breakfast & break camp at EXT then drive to Interstate Park in Taylors Falls (about 20 minutes from Wm O’Brien). Folks can show up later in the day if they have another activity planned for the morning but should arrive not much later than 2pm to insure you can get at least one turn to climb. We will end climbing when everyone has had their fill or at dusk – whichever comes first.
WEAR clothing that allows full range of motion and can take a little abuse but DO NOT SHOW UP WEARING FLIP=FLOPS as the terrain uneven and rocky.
BRING a full water bottle (can be filled at Taylors Falls) and optional finger food or snacks. We will climb just a short distance from parking so food in a cooler in your vehicle is common practice.
If you are not a Rover Member you will need to complete a Rover Waiver (click the link on this page). The Rover Waiver must also be submitted no later than 4pm Thursday.
A Minnesota State Park Pass is required to park at Taylors Falls and I advise you get yours a day or two before the trip. Once you arrive, call (don’t text -I won’t hear it) Rob so I can send someone to get you. If I don’t answer, wait a few minutes and call back.
