Hiking/breakfast — Afton State Park, MN

Category: Hiking

Sat, 9:00amSep 22023
  • Max Trip Size: 8 people
Description:

Let’s meet for breakfast at The Lumberyard Pub then hike at Afton State Park before it gets too warm. I plan to play my hike by ear, but will go at least three miles from the visitor center to the beach and back. You can choose your adventure if you want more speed, distance, or difficulty. We can split up as needed.

Meet for breakfast: 9:00 a.m.

Hike start time estimate: 10:30 a.m. at the visitor center (This is not the park office – you need to drive in a ways, park, then the visitor center is just over a rise also on the right near the parking lots.)

I’m limiting the breakfast to eight people so we don’t swamp the restaurant staff. If you want to join us only for hiking, you can meet us at the visitor center at 10:30 (target start time).

Note that if you want to swim at the beach, the water is low and water shoes/sandals are recommended due to rocks and zebra mussels.

Post-hike socializing options are The Lumberyard Pub (might be live music in the afternoon) or Selma’s Ice Cream Parlor.

This activity is open to non-Rovers member, but you must fill out the waiver form below this trip posting.

Coordinator(s):
Ron H.
