Let’s hike an estimated four miles at Afton State Park at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Meet at the visitor center at 10:15 so we can start hiking at 10:30.
The visitor center is a 1-2 miles drive from the park entrance. When you reach the parking lots on your right, park and you’ll find the visitor center a hill also on the right.
We’ll hike north from the visitor center and take a clockwise route hitting map points J, AO, AN, AM, AK, AJ, AI, Z, Y, AJ, R, P, O, M, L, K, and back to J. The terrain will be downhill at first, the flat a bit along a creek, then up a long, steep incline, then flat on the prairie, then down a steep decline, the flat a bit along the river, then up some stairs on the return to the visitor center.
Post-hike lunch, socializing, and ice cream options are The Lumberyard Pub and Selma’s Ice Cream Parlor, both in Afton.
This hike is open to anyone, but if you are not a member of Minnesota Rovers, you must complete the online waiver form below.
