This is the hike for the folks who want a mellow start to the day! Come and help us explore Lake Elmo Regional Park with its rolling hills, forested areas, prairie, and several bodies of water. Depending on our route, you may even see some hike-in campsites to reserve for next summer!
We’ll meet at the Nordic Center and plan to be hitting the trails by 1:00 p.m. for a 90-minute hike. This will be a modest-paced hike (about 3 mph?), but we won’t leave anyone behind. If anyone is interested, we can socialize afterwards at the picnic tables for a bit. The address for Lake Elmo Park Reserve is 1515 Keats Avenue North, Lake Elmo, MN 55042. The Nordic Center is about a mile north of the park entrance. (It is marked by the snowflake on the park maps.) See the summer trails map here, in case you’re not familiar with this 2,000+ acre park!
Bring water/coffee/hot chocolate and a snack and dress for the weather and to hike.
The Washington County Parks normally require a vehicle permit ($7.00 for the day/$30.00 annual). The Friday after Thanksgiving is a Free Admission Day, though, and vehicle permit fees will be waived. (Gotta love that!) 😊
Let us know if you are coming, so we’ll know to look for you.
