Description:

I will be starting my southbound hike on the Appalachian Trail next year in the beginning of September. I thought it would be a good idea to make the start of it a Rover’s trip. We will be flying into Bangor, rent a car, and drive to the Katahdin stream campground. Depending on how many people come we will either camp in tents or stay in one of the lean-to’s in the campground.

Various daytime activities are available in the park including hiking, paddling , and rock climbing. I will be leading a summit attempt of Baxter Peak on Mount Katahdin to start my southbound hike on the Appalachian Trail. This is a very challenging summit with over 4,000 ft of elevation gain in five miles. If anyone is interested, they can join me for the first five days of my hike. I will need a co-coordinator to get everyone back to the airport since I won’t be going back with the group.

Coordinator(s):
Pat E.
