Part Two of channeling the Rovers’ Beginning Backpacking Program vibe onto two wheels…
You’ve done Session 1! It’s now June, the weather has warmed, and you’re filled with bike touring knowledge. You can now imagine yourself pedaling on the way to camp. : ) Rovers membership is required.
In this 4-hour afternoon session we’ll learn from each other by packing our gear on our bikes together, then go for a ride to test our setups, and experience handling a loaded bicycle.
We’ll gather and pack at a local park (TBD–aiming for a location convenient for the group), then head out on a ride. I’ll prioritize beginning the ride on a trail, so you can first focus on bike handling, but will likely build in some road riding to build your confidence in those situations.
After this–on to the finale! A preview of Session 3:
(All day Sat. June 22 & Sun. June 23) Out on the route! We’ll take an overnight trip to a Metro area campground, traveling on roads and/or trails 30-40 miles from our gathering point (equalling a 60-80 mile roundtrip). We’ll share the cost of the campsite (est. cost $5-10); food will be your responsibility.
