Did you know that the only gorge along the Mississippi River is the stretch from downtown Minneapolis to downtown St. Paul?
Help to keep it beautiful! Celebrate Earth Day by participating in a River Gorge Earth Day Cleanup sponsored by the Friends of the Mississippi River and Minneapolis Parks and Rec.
We have arranged our own section of river, so we will need lots of people. We have the east side of the river from SE Washington Ave to Franklin Ave, known as Mississippi Flats Park aka East River Flats. We’ll meet in the parking lot at Mississippi Flats Park. Plan for 9:15 am for sign-in and prep until noon or later (if we picnic and hike).
We’ll provide garbage bags and gloves, bring your own gloves if you choose. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Bring water and a snack, if desired.
This Rovers day trip is family-friendly and open to non-members. For those who are interested, bring your lunch. Weather permitting we could have a quick lunch after we’re done with the cleanup at noon and maybe take a short hike (perhaps along the river or in Minnehaha Park).
