Please join us for a 6-7 or 11-mile loop hike along both sides of the Mississippi River! We will start at the Wabun Picnic Area at THIS PARKING LOT We will start by doing a loop to the south, crossing the river at HWY 5 and those who want a 6-7 mile hike will cross back over the river at the Ford Pkwy Bridge. Those doing 11 miles will continue to the Lake Street Bridge before crossing back over the river. The plan is to go at a medium pace or more, so please be able to walk at least 3 mph (20 min per mile). If conditions allow and the group is interested, we will go off-pavement, mostly in the second part of the hike, including the Winchell Trail.
We will stop for a snack/lunch/water break for those going 11 miles. Please pack whatever you wish to have at that time. Ruth highly recommends it if you are doing the 11 miles.
The last time we were at this starting point, there were no open restrooms so please plan ahead.
A limited number of well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please get in touch with me if you plan to bring a dog.
Non-Rovers are welcome if they submit the online liability waiver below.
Please send me an email or text if you are planning to come in case there are last-minute updates. And please be on time. Thank you!
