Join me for a moderate paced, long hike around Fort Snelling State Park. It will be at least 7 miles and probably take 3 hours. This is one of a series of training hikes for a long trail hike. The hike will start at the visitors’ center, hike to and around the Snelling Lake Trail, the Picnic Island Trail and the Pike Island Trail. There will be multiple points where hikers can take a short cut or go directly back to the visitors’ center.
Meet in the “Thomas C. Savage Visitor Center, Fort Snelling State Trail, St Paul, MN 55111”, which is all the way into the park at the end of the road. Please be on time and allow time to drive at 20 mph all the way into the park.
Put the above description into Google maps or the directions are, from Highway 5 north take Post Road opposite the airport and Snelling Lake Road into the park all the way to the end of the road.
