We’ll meet at the Holland Lake trailhead parking lot, entered at the end of Lexington Avenue off Cliff Road. The plan is to do a brisk 5.25-mile (8.5 km) clockwise loop in about 1.5 to 2 hours, passing a number of lakes and ponds in this “Wilderness in the City”. Some of this hike will be on the ski trails, which should be morally acceptable to us xc skiers, as no snow of any significance is in sight (“Cross-country ski trails are for skiers only — no hiking, snowshoeing, biking or dog walking is allowed on ski trails when snow covered“; “Ski trail maintenance begins after a snow event ends.”[emphasis mine]).
As of today, the trails are hard packed dirt and/or snow, perhaps 1-2 % icy. There is a porta potty at about mile 3.2 on the hike, also bathrooms at the trailhead start.
All dogs on leashes are welcome. Non-members are more than welcome (or at least as much as dogs), but please sign the Liability waiver for non-members. I especially recommend you hike in Lebanon Hills if you’ve never been there.
We’ll get going right at Noon, so please be on time-it’s cold outside.
