Date: Sunday, June 1, 2025
Time: 10 am -11:30 am
Our hike will take place at Irving and John Anderson County Park in Isanti County, MN, a 404 acre park consisting of northern hardwood forests, prairie habitats, wetlands and lakes. The park protects over 1.75 miles of undeveloped shoreline along Horseleg and Horseshoe Lake. We’ll begin our walk from the back at a slower pace, through the woods and over the boardwalk. We’ll plan to cover approximately 2.5 miles with the intention of identifying plants that are starting to bloom this time of year, including yellow flowers and Penstemon.
Let’s meet at the Marathon Gas Station between Stacy and North Branch. There, you can stock up on snacks and use the restroom, as there are no toilet facilities at the park. We’ll proceed to the park from there so please be timely. Let us know if you are running late.
Marathon is located at 5563 Athens Trail, North Branch, MN 55056

The weather is expected to be hot and sunny. You might want to bring repellent. No deer flies are expected to be out yet, however, if it does get too buggy, we’ll avoid the woods and stick to the prairies.
This hike is cross listed with North Metro Secret Trails.
