- Max Trip Size: 12 people
Please join me for a 10-11 mile double loop hike in beautiful Afton State Park! There will also be opportunities to veer off from the group to make a 3.6-mile or a 6-7 mile loop, instead (distances are approximate). This is a hilly hike. The plan is to go at a medium pace or more, so please be able to walk at least 3 mph for the duration of the hike (20 minutes per mile). We will stop for a lunch/snack break at approximately 5 miles, so pack food/drink for that to keep your energy up. Carrying water is required for anyone going more than 3.6 miles.
Please meet outside the Visitor’s Center HERE where there are bathrooms. This is not the Ranger Station that you pass soon after entering the park. The Visitor’s Center is a few miles farther down the road where there are several large parking lots. Please allow plenty of time to drive through the park and be at the meeting location on time. We plan to leave on time. You will need a state park pass (daily or yearly). These can be purchased at the Ranger Station (not our meeting point).
Rain will not cancel the hike unless it is extensive or includes thunderstorms.
A limited number of well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please contact me if you plan to bring a dog.
Non-Rovers are welcome if they submit the online liability waiver below.
Sometimes there are last-minute changes (due to weather, road construction, etc). Due to this and to maintain the stated trip maximum, contact me to sign up for the trip.
