Description:

Join us for the annual Halloween trip to Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center near Sandstone, MN, about 90 miles north of the Twin Cities. We are excited to offer this new location on a mid-October weekend for our annual Halloween party this year.

Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center is nestled on the shores of Grindstone Lake in east-central Minnesota. Osprey Wilds Home – Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center  It is located minutes from Banning State Park and the Munger State Trail so besides the Center’s grounds, there are lots of convenient biking and hiking opportunities and paddling options on Grindstone Lake.

Crosby Lodge, where we will be staying, has nice dorm-style rooms with en-suite bathrooms. There are only 4 people per room so everyone can sleep on a bottom bunk. Room will be divided by gender, light sleepers, snorers, etc. We have set aside a limited number of 2 person rooms, which will be available on a first-come, first served basis.

As part of your trip, you have the opportunity to enjoy hiking the beautiful grounds of the center or canoeing the lake. If enough people are interested there are some center-led educational programs available for a fee.  In addition, daytime Rover-led activities might include hiking, biking (road and trail), and canoeing or kayaking. They have canoe rental or BYO kayak. On Saturday evening, we will have our always popular Halloween costume party and time for games, puzzles, pumpkin carving, dancing and whatever else we can think of!! There is a fire ring just outside the lodge for evening fires.

Osprey Wilds will provide five meals from Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast in their dining hall, which is steps from our lodge. We do not have the option to bring in our own meals, but their kitchen staff provides delicious scratch-cooked meals for visiting groups prepared fresh to satisfy every palate. Each meal is served cafeteria style and offers a variety of exceptional cuisine options with a focus on locally grown or organic items. Food Service – Osprey Wilds

Lodge check-in time is Friday at 3 pm but the grounds are open to the public, so you have the option of coming early to enjoy the lake and trails. On Sunday your gear needs to be out of the lodge by 11am but feel free to spend the afternoon outside taking in the Fall colors. We will have outdoor Rover activities planned for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The total cost for the weekend depends on your room choice. The cost includes your room, five delicious meals, morning coffee or tea in the lodge and the Saturday night party with pumpkins, prizes and snacks. A quad room is $160 per person, a triple room is $185 per person, and a two-person room is $240 per person. A $160 non-refundable deposit is due upon registration.

The Osprey Wilds deadline requires that registrations must end by October 2. Contact Karen P or Melissa B by email to register for the trip. We hope you are as excited about this trip as we are!
