Please join us for a 6 or 11-mile hike along the Mississippi River starting from the Wabun Picnic area near Minnehaha Falls. (Distances are approximate!) Here is a link to the meeting place!
This hike will be two complete loops, with a stop at our cars in the middle so people can easily end their hike at the 6-mile point. The first loop will go on both sides of the Mississippi River between the Ford Parkway and Lake Street bridges. We will go down to the river level a couple of times, including on the Winchell Trail.
Between the loops, we will have a short lunch/snack break at Wabun picnic area before some of us head out on the second loop. Bring your own food and drink if you wish to join in!
The second loop will also go on both sides of the river, but between the Ford Parkway and Highway 5 bridges. On this loop, we will also go down to the river level on both official and unofficial trails that include climbing over logs, rocks, and down & up steep slopes.
Both loops include hiking up and down the river bluff a few times. Conditions could be muddy when we go off pavement, so please prepare for that. Rain gear is highly recommended as some rain is in the forecast!
A limited number of well-behaved dogs are welcome. Contact me if you plan to bring a dog.
Non-Rovers are welcome if they submit the online liability waiver below.
Please send an email or text if you are planning to come in case of last-minute changes.
See you on the trails!
