17th Annual Summer in the Sticks & Poker Ride — Elm Creek Park, MN

Category: Hiking, Bicycling, Summer Trips, Other Summer Activities

Sat - SunAug 15 - Aug 162015
  • Estimated Cost: $15
  • Max Trip Size: 60 people
Description:

Pack up your outdoor toys, a chair, and a cooler and get ready to make the trek all the way to the NW ’burbs to have some fun! Join us for biking, hiking, inline skating, swimming, picnic, etc. at and around Elm Creek Park Reserve.

This year for the bike ride, we’ll be joining Trailhead Cycle in Champlin for their annual Poker Ride (20& 50 mile options, see details below).

For those interested in other activities, meet at the park for shorter bike rides, inline skating, hiking, volleyball, swimming, disc golf.

We can’t be everywhere at once, so we need people to help coordinate these other activities — just let us know what, when, and where and we’ll add it to the list. BAM, you’ve got fellow Rovers to play with outside!

Elm Creek Park Reserve has 20 miles of paved trails that also connect to Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park via the Rush Creek Regional Trail (7 miles) or Fish Lake Regional Park on the Medicine Lake Regional Trail. These trails are all in excellent condition for biking and inline skating. There are also over 30 miles of turf hiking trails an AWESOME 12+ mile mountain bike trail system, plus the new Eastman Nature Center.

Don’t forget swimwear! There’s a man-made, chlorinated, and filtered swimming pond ($4 fee) with sand beach in the park. For the kiddos, there’s a nice playground at the recreation area as well.

POKER RIDE

  • Two rides to choose from: 20 or 50 miles
  • Prize for best hand
  • Prizes for King AND Queen of the Mountain
  • T-shirts and fun for everyone!
