The Border Route Trail Association invites you to join our Annual Board Meeting on January 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm. This in-person event is a free event open to those interested in hiking, maintaining, promoting, and/or supporting the BRT. The meeting location is REI, 750 American Blvd W, Bloomington, MN 55420. The business portion of the meeting will include a welcome, approval of last month’s minutes, treasurer’s report, upcoming trail maintenance dates, and the election of directors and officers for the upcoming year. We are excited to have as our guest speaker, Alison Young, Blissful Hiker. Her bio is as follows: A Walk on the Border Route Trail with Alison Young, Blissful Hiker It was one rainy week in mid-fall that I set out to walk the remote and rugged 65-miles of the Border Route Trail in far Northern Minnesota. Passing through the Boundary Waters Wilderness and high above enormous lakes that straddle two countries, the trail proved harder than I’d anticipated, but even more lovely and satisfying, too. Alison Young has lived many lives including as an award-winning professional flutist and syndicated American Public Media radio host. These days, she is the “solo, female, middle-aged, titanium-reinforced, long-distance backpacker and cancer thriver” Blissful Hiker. She’s hiked on six continents and walked both New Zealand’s “long pathway” Te Araroa and the Pacific Crest Trail in one year. Using walking – plus spectacular images – as the setting, Alison brings alive lessons from the trail that inspire listeners to “hike their own hike” in their life journeys. We invite you to come, ask questions, get information about the BRT, and meet board members who desire for the Border Route Trail to thrive now and for future generations.
