Description:

**Cancelled due to the DNR decision to continue keeping backpacking sites closed through May.

George Crosby Manitou State Park is a park designed primarily for backpackers and is located on the forested North Shore, just north of Silver Bay.  It has trout fishing and 24 miles of hiking trails.  We will backpack 3.25 miles to campsite 11 near the Manitou river and spend 2 nights and a full day in the park.  It’s up to you to choose what to do with your free Sunday in the park, just don’t be late for dinner!

This is a great opportunity to get out on the trail early and try out your new gear before you go out on your upcoming long summer backpacking trip or brush up on your skills.

The trip will include 2 trail meals, one Saturday and one Sunday night.  Hot water will be made available in the morning.  Some tent sharing will be required due to campsite space.

Trip costs cover:

  • Campsite reservation
  • Mileage and fuel
  • 2 trail dinners (if social distancing recommendations allow)

COVID 19 notice:  This trip will only move forward if governmental recommendations allow.  We will not violate any stay at home orders and will comply with social distancing recommendations if still in place.  Every effort will be made to return the maximum possible amount of the upfront deposit to participants should a cancellation be required.

Coordinator(s):
Josh B.
