Backpacking on the Superior Hiking Trail

We’ll be backpacking on the Superior Hiking trail from Pincushion Mountain Trailhead (just off the Gunflint Trail near Grand Marais) to the Kadunce River Wayside (15 miles) or to Judge Magney State Park (25 miles) depending on the weather. The book/guide listed two safety concerns: 1. Cliffs close to trail edge at Devil Track Canyon. 2. Steep ascent and descent into canyon. Friday and Monday will be short hikes (2.5 – 5 miles). Saturday and Sunday hikes will be around 9 miles (or less depending on the weather). I have no e-mail access during the weekends so call if you have any questions or wait and I’ll respond to your e-mails on the weekdays. Estimated cost: $60 + 2 meals out. Deposit: $25. Max trip size: 6 people.
