Backpacking

Fri - MonMay 25 - May 282012
  • Estimated Cost: $50
  • Max Trip Size: 8 people
Description:

Three day trip to the North Shore over Memorial Day weekend. The place we are planning to go is about 4.5 hours from the Cities and we will leave Friday around 1pm. There is a sweet place I have stayed before by Silver Bay right on this rock beach of Lake Superior. There is some bouldering available around the site and a large fire pit. We can do some day hiking on Saturday and enjoy the sights of area. This is not too far from Palisades Head, so some rock climbing may be in order! On Sunday, we will pack out gear and backpack to another site by a much, much smaller lake, but with a great view still! Then on Monday, we will hike out and drive back to the Cities. Overall, it should be a cheap, sweet, fun-filled trip! This is a great opportunity to learn how to backpack if you want to get into it more (Note: this is NOT car camping). Everyone is responsible for their own food, and of course carpooling will be in order, so splitting gas will be an added bonus!

Estimated cost: $50. Deposit: $0. Max trip size: 8.
