- Max Trip Size: 4 people
This trip is tailored to give folks their initial experience in Outdoor Climbing and Route Setting & Belaying.
We will meet in the parking lot of “Interstate Park State Park” (that’s what the sign reads!) which uses the same entry driveway as the Paddlewheel Boats just off Hwy 8, just before crossing bridge into Wisconsin. The park is adjacent to the town of Taylors Falls, MN.
Those who wish to learn Route Setting should be at Taylors Falls by 3pm (apx 1 hr drive from Twin Cities)
Those who just want to try climbing should be at Taylors Falls at 4pm or no later than 6pm.
WHAT TO WEAR: clothing that allow full mobility and can take a bit of abuse. Rovers will provide the climbing gear you’ll need (harness, shoes & helmet). DO NOT WEAR FLIP FLOPS OR LOOSE SANDLES as the terrain to get to the climb may require ‘walking’ over unstable rocks & scree.
WHAT TO BRING: you’ll need a full water bottle (which can be refilled on-site) and optional ‘finger food’ (something to munch on while awaiting your next turn to climb). You’ll need a MN State Park pass for your vehicle. Also bring some way to pay for food in case we choose to dine out afterwards.
IMPORTANT – YOU MUST EMAIL Rob and provide your cell phone number. “Space is limited” so it’ll be “First Come, First Served”. The “Maximum Trip Size” of 4 may be revised upward if I get more qualified belayers to sign up.
