Snow! We have real snow! What a treat to do snow sports in the Twin Cities!
If you have been curious about snowshoeing, I found a place where they groom a trail AND also allow people to go off-trail. So my plan is to first allow people to practice on the trail and get a feel for what it’s like to have these things they call snowshoes on your feet. 🙂 Maybe we’d hike for 45 minutes or so. Then people who wanted to see why snowshoes are so awesome in deeper snow could join me for another 45 minutes or so as we ventured out off-trail.
We’ll meet at the Brookview Park Clubhouse at 1:30 p.m. The address in Google is 316 Brookview Parkway South, Golden Valley, MN 55426. Here is a Google map showing where the Clubhouse is: https://goo.gl/maps/1xTaL7U84jHSFcGf8. Meet me on the sidewalk between the building and the parking. I’ll plan to be by the plaza in the middle of the block.
If you don’t have snowshoes, let me know and one of the benefits of being a MN Rover is that you can use gear out of the equipment locker. I can see if I can get a pair for you. I would need to know by noon on Friday.
We’ll plan to be out from 1:30 – 3:00 or so. Afterwards, we can check out the Three One Six Bar and Grill that is located in their VERY nice Clubhouse.
It should be a nice day, and with luck there will still be good snow. Dress to be outside. Bring water or other beverage and a snack.
Let me know if you have questions. And if you are not a member, be sure to sign the Liability Waiver conveniently located at the bottom of this description. 🙂
I want to limit this to five true beginners. If you’re not a beginner, it would be great to have you along to give pointers!
