Beginner Winter Camping

Sat - SunDec 8 - Dec 92012
  • Estimated Cost: $20
Description:

Join us on a beginning winter camping trip to Banning State Park about 100 miles north of the cities. We will camp in the regular car campground and day hike, ski, snowshow park trails each day. Banning is a great park with a historic rock quarry and nice trails, especially along the Kettle River, they are very scenic with ice formations on them. I can advise you on clothing and equipment choices, with emphasis on using things you have. Since this is a car camping trip you can bring plenty of extra stuff so you can spend your first wintercamping night out comfortably. The rover cage has gear and winter camping sleeping bags. Group supper with Dutch oven desert. You can leave with a group in the morning or drive up on your own later, you make your schedule, the idea of this outing is to spend the evening out to see if you like camping in colder weather (with plenty of gear).

Estimated cost: $20. Deposit: $0. Max trip size: No Limit.

Sponsoring organization: North Star Sierra Club
