Beginner Winter Camping — Banning State Park, Minnesota

Category: Winter Trips, Winter Camping

Sun - MonDec 6 - Dec 72015
  • Estimated Cost: $15
  • Deposit: $5
  • Max Trip Size: 15 people
Description:

Join us on a beginner winter camping trip to Banning State Park about 100 miles north of the cities. This trip will introduce you to winter camping and is also open to experienced campers, we will camp in the regular car campground and you can hike, ski or snowshoe depending on the conditions. Since we are car camping, the idea is to bring as much clothing/camping equipment as you like to spend your first winter night out comfortably, I can help you out with advice on clothing and equipment choices. The Rover cage has a couple of winter sleeping bags as well as tents and sleeping pads. We will have a group supper of chilli and a Dutch oven desert, you will supply your own breakfast, I can help you with advice
on that. Banning is a beautiful park with a historic rock quarry self guiding tour near the river. The geology is wonderful with water carved kettles in the rock, there are alot of ice formation features on the cliffs in clear, opaque and soil covered colors, as well as a lot of white pines along the river, its very scenic. For information call Basil Loney at 651-774-2640.
