Bike, Hike, and Paddle at Sakatah Lake State Park!

Fri - SunOct 4 - Oct 62013
  • Estimated Cost: $10
  • Deposit: $10
  • Max Trip Size: 20 people
Description:

Join us at nearby Sakatah Lake State Park for biking, hiking, and paddling! What is there to do in this part of the state? First of all, the paved Sakatah Singing Hills Trail passes through the park and several small towns on its way from Faribault to Mankato. Besides biking the Sakatah Trail, we can go (bike or drive) to Mankato for “Bier on Belgrade” (their Oktoberfest) and hike or bike some of that city’s trails, possibly visiting Minneopa State Park and checking out some waterfalls! We can also hike in Sakatah Lake State Park, paddle on Upper and Lower Sakatah Lakes (part of the Cannon River State Water Trail), and just relax.

You bring your own food, snacks, beverages, plates/utensils, lawn chair, and camping gear. Rovers members may borrow equipment from the Rovers, but you will need to make arrangements with the cage coordinator to reserve and pick up. Rovers membership is required for this overnight trip, and you must be a current member to sign up or be on the waiting list. (Joining is easy and is just $25 per year.)

Beginners and families are welcome; 4 spaces will be reserved until September 20th for new members who have joined in the past year. We’ll arrange carpooling and a potluck on Saturday evening as the weekend gets closer. If you would like to help co-coordinate, let me know.

Estimated cost: $10 (excluding gas, food, state park pass). Deposit: $10. Max trip size: 20.
