A casual, low key, cooperative event to view and talk about birds. Meet at 6:00 p.m. at the parking lot on the north end of Old Cedar Bridge in Bloomington. This area is also referred to as the Historic Cedar Avenue Minnesota River Crossing and also the Long Meadow Bridge.
Wear comfortable and appropriate clothing for the weather, especially shoes or boots. There may be some mud, but it shouldn’t be deep. Try to leave whites and bright clothes at home. Bring binoculars if you have them, a smile for looks, and a friendly attitude. Membership in Rovers is not required and beginning birders (or those curious to find out what it’s about and who does this type of thing) are welcome. E-mail or call if you have questions. Estimated cost: $0. Max trip size: unlimited.
Directions: Take E. Old Shakopee Road (24th Ave) in Bloomington either going south from the Mall of America or exiting Cedar Avenue (Highway 77). From the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Old Shakopee Road, head southwest (you may think you are going west) to the first stoplight at Old Cedar Ave S. – turn left toward the River. The Bridge and parking lot is about 0.5 mile down that road.
