Border Route Trail Gunflint End Maintenance — Gunflint Lake, Cook County, MN

Description:

Two or three day trail maintence trip to the famous Border Route Trail Gunflint end.  Lodging donated by Hestons Resort on Gunflint Lake.  Drive up Thursday or Friday.  Bring your summer sleeping bag and towel for the cabin.  Breakfast & supper provided, bring your own lunch.   Plan to hike the trail with your daypack and furnished tools and work each day.

With hand and power tools we will complete a brushing and deadfall maintence sweep on the west end of the BRT.  Parts of this area is recovering from the 1999 blowdown and some areas burned in the Ham lake fire.  Some is pristine forest.

Training, safety equipment and tools provided by the Border Route Trails Association a 501C3 tax exempt non profit dedicated to the BRT.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Membership is required on overnight trips (except for Extravaganza and Border Route Trail work trips).

It is the responsibility of both the trip coordinators and the participants to discover and share information related to each others’ experience and capabilities regarding trip-related activities and responsibilities.

It is also club policy that waiver forms be signed by all people participating in Rover events.
