Here’s your chance to work off a few of those holiday calories! Join me for a winter hike around Lake Harriet. Depending on time and interest, we may also want to walk around Roberts Bird Sanctuary. Or maybe we’ll decide to explore the Bird Sanctuary instead. (We will save the Rose Garden, Perennial Garden, and the Peace Garden for a warmer month!)
We’ll meet at the intersection of Roseway Road and Lake Harriet Parkway at 9:30 a.m. (4124 Roseway Road, Minneapolis, MN 55409, across Lake Harriet Parkway from the Lyndale Park Rose Garden). We’ll plan to hike for about 1.5 hours at a moderate pace (3 mph?), and maybe do about 3ish miles. Parking is available along Lake Harriet Parkway as well as in the neighborhood on East Lake Harriet Boulevard and 42nd or 43rd Street.
The weather could be brisk, so dress for it and wear appropriate footwear. Bring your favorite beverage (maybe coffee or hot chocolate in that thermos) and a snack, if you want. You might want to bring a hiking pole in case it would be helpful with ice.
