- Max Trip Size: 8 people
Let’s meet for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. on the outdoor patio at the Lumberyard Pub in Afton, and then cross the border to hike about 7 miles at Willow River State Park. We should be able to get behind the waterfall for fun and to cool off.
We’ll start and end by the beach, so bring your swimwear and camp chair so you can change clothed to chill at the beach for swimming and a picnic before heading home.
A Wisconsin state park permit (annual or daily) is required. I have an annual sticker and can take 4 passengers. We can leave some cars in Afton for carpooling.
Difficulty: Medium – Be sure you can do 7 miles and handle some inclines.
Surface: Hard-packed dirt/grass – you won’t need your super rugged boots.
Hiking might commence around 10:15 a.m. for those who want to skip breakfast and meet at the park for the hike/swim portion.
