BRT trail clearing east end of Clearwater Lake and Gogebic — BWCA, MN

Category: Trail Maintenance

Fri - SunOct 4 - Oct 62024
  • Estimated Cost: $75
  • Deposit: $25.00
  • Max Trip Size: 8 people
Description:

I have reserved bunkhouse #2 at Clearwater Lodge Grand Marais MN so people can arrive the evening of 10/3 and be ready for an early start on 10/4.  THANK YOU TO CLEARWATER LODGE, THEY ARE NOT CHARGING OUR HARD WORKING TRAIL CREW FOR THIS STAY.

We will leave the lodge at 9 AM on Friday morning and canoe 5 miles to the east end of Clearwater Lake, set up base camp, and begin trail clearing.  Depending on the amount of work it would be helpful if some people can stay until Monday, the area is remote so I would like to avoid a return trip to finish the work.  For those who need to leave the trip will be complete on Sunday.

Please plan to bring your own shelter, cooking gear, and food, 2 breakfast, 3 lunch, 3 dinner, and snacks, water purification, and gloves.  BRTA will have the tools, first aid, some gloves, safety gear, communicator, tarp and lantern.  Know the new BWCA rules for safe food storage. Be prepared with an extra day of food in case of bad weather.

No training is required for this trip. We will be using small saws and loppers.
