Camping, hiking, biking (and paddling?)! A group site reserved at Nerstrand Big Woods State Park near Northfield. Spend your time doing what you love, but one option will be to bike the Jesse James Bike Tour, which travels through the lakes region of Rice County and rolling rural hills, on Saturday (routes range from 10 to 100 miles) |info& registration|
Explore Nerstrand Big Woods and Northfield. Experience the Jesse James Reenactment! If you want to coordinate a paddle on the nearby Cannon River is nearby, let me know.
You bring your own food, snacks, beverages, plates/utensils, lawn chair, and camping gear. You may borrow tents and sleeping bags from the Rovers, but you will need to make arrangements with the cage coordinator to reserve and pick up. Rovers membership is required for this overnight trip.
Beginners and families are welcome; 4 spaces will be reserved until August 20 for new members who have joined in the past year. (Joining is easy and is just $25 per year.) We’ll arrange carpooling as the trip gets closer. I will take sign-ups now. Deposits will be required later in the summer. Sorry, no dogs.
Estimated cost: $10 + food/gas/state park vehicle sticker. Deposit:$10. Max trip size: 20.
